The covers of this pan were so great.

They enabled us to tightly seal off our food so the flavors and steam stayed locked in, but we could keep an eye on the stuff inside with ease. The flavors stayed in and it was not necessary to constantly lift the lids unless we had to stir something.

The first test meal I decided to make was my mom’s signature spaghetti sauce. I demand this recipe turn out every time because it means so much to me. So, I was going to test this cookware against the most important recipe of them all. Into the skillet went the sausage and the onion. I cooked them until they were tender. Nothing stuck and it was an easy task to complete. I added in some garlic and let it go.

I drained off the juices and put everything into the 3-quart saucepan. I then added in the other ingredients which were tomatoes, tomato sauce, brown sugar and some seasoning and bay leaves. I sat and let it cook on low for the next 7 hours.

I went about my day, cleaning and helping the kids with their homework when they got home. I pulled out the stockpot for the pasta. Soon it was time to enjoy the meal. I placed the pot in the center of the table and told the kids not to touch as it was hot. I drained off the pasta. Everybody had their forks up, ready to try the spaghetti. I dished it out.

All you heard was silence. Well, slurping of spaghetti noodles. Then demands for seconds. I had to make the kids eat their salads. All they wanted was the spaghetti. So, no bones about it — this cookware is tops and I just loved testing it out.

We examined the construction of the pans as we opened the box. You can tell they put great care into making this perfect. It looks great hanging in your kitchen and has the quality you demand for years of great service. The Tri Ply stainless steel has 2 layers of stainless steel and an aluminum core that gives you the best heat conductivity. You get the best heat conductivity on any and all cooktops.

The handles on this are stainless steel. They are long, and while you do feel them getting warm, they do not get so hot you can’t handle them. However, we do think it is a good idea to get yourself a good pair of oven gloves just to have for your own safety.

We liked that it is dishwasher safe, making cleanup a breeze. However, it is recommended that you hand-wash these items so that the luster of the stainless steel remains as lovely as the first day. Another great thing we liked was the lids. These are see-through lids of tempered glass. You can just keep an eye on your food right without having to always lift up the lids over and over again. This is a huge win for sure!

But perhaps the biggest win is the full lifetime warranty. Provided you take care of the pots and pans as per the instructions, Calphalon will replace any item that is found to be defective in material or workmanship when it is put to normal use in your household.

Now it is time to discuss our test meal. I decided to make my family gourmet turkey burgers for a healthy and filling meal. I bought 2 lbs. of ground turkey and formed the patties, seasoning them with our favorite seasonings and of course some salt and pepper. Then, I added some oil to the pan and fried them up in the 10-inch pan.

I then used another pan to sauté up some onions. My family just loves sautéed onions on their burgers, so this was perfect to try out the 8-inch pan. I made some of the burgers into cheeseburgers and was pleased the way the cheese melted nicely over the patties. Everything cooked evenly and safely. My family ate the burgers with smiles on their faces.
