The charms of the Scooby snack drink are not new to me. Even so, there are hardly any who actually make use of this drink at home! It’s a shame, because when it comes to celebration the Scooby snack drink is great fun with a creamy and filling taste.

The drink is not just for random parties, but goes well with all formal events such as wedding receptions, birthdays, weekend night dinners, etc. Last year I happened to attend my cousin’s wedding, and that was where we all experienced delicious Scooby snack mix drinks and Scooby shots.

I could not help but ask how they went about making this fantastic drink. A recipe I discovered since then has been pretty simple and easy to make. Today I plan to share it with you all.

The Scooby Doo Pa Pa Shots!

It was originally called Scooby Doo Pa Pa shots, but now we know it simply as Scooby snack shots. We will get to the name later. Right now, let’s just concentrate on the delicious ingredients.

It is made out of coconut rum, melon liqueur, pineapple juice, crème de banana and whipped cream on top. The blend of these ingredients come out pretty strong and refreshing. Pineapple juice makes it a perfect tropical cocktail and a good choice for summer.

The drink is quite famous in Mexico and around the Caribbean. The whipped cream on top of the drink makes it more tempting and adds a few extra calories which is great to boost your energy levels while partying.

Most of the ingredients in the drink are so basic that you can find them in any store, such as cream and pineapple juice. The rest are also easily available, but you need to make sure you are getting the right products. So here is some more info about them.

Coconut rum: Malibu is the best choice if you want to add a quality coconut rum to your drink. That does not mean you should exclude other brands, but I always prefer Malibu.

Unlike ordinary rum, this one is flavored with coconut. So, it has a mildly sweet flavor with a creamy coconut touch. It is 21 percent alcohol, which is a perfect amount for the Scooby drink. Those of you who do not like that coconutty taste can go with another variety of rum. But for others, the next time you think of making a drink, consider making a Scooby snack shoot with Malibu.

Melon Liqueurs : the nice green color of Scooby snack shots is all because of this refreshing liqueur. For me, Midori melon liqueurs are the best choice to make a nice tray of Scooby shots. It is a sweet and bright green colored liquid which is manufactured out of muskmelon.

As the liqueur is so sweet, it is never taken directly and always added to drinks with a combination of other liquids. It is mass-produced and largely sold in every part of the world, so you won’t have much trouble finding a nice bottle of Midori melon liqueur. And if you do, try some other brand for a change.

Crème de Banana: This is a banana-flavored liqueur that is commonly used in a number of drinks and also in cooking desserts or savory meals. Yellow bird drinks are flavored using crème de banana. It has a mild fruity flavor which goes perfectly with a drink like the Scooby drink.

Now let’s get back to the name of the drink.

The ‘Scooby Doo’ part of this drink is not something that can go unnoticed. The concoction looks like the Scooby mystery van from the classic Scooby Doo series.

The creamy green color of the drink with the white whipped cream topping will take you back to the mystery-filled episodes of the cartoons. Other than the color, there is nothing Scooby about the drink, except for how fun it is. Since these drinks can be served as a perfect in-between meal drink, they are called snack shots. a small serving is enough to boost up your energy levels.

If you are not into sweet drinks, then these Scooby shots won’t be your cup of tea. Its taste is sweeter than most other liquor you would usually have in a drink. The same goes for those of you who don’t like the taste of pineapple, watermelon, banana, and coconut. If that’s you, you should go elsewhere for your shot needs!

The blend of these liquors would also put you off if you are not a fan of melon or coconut. You may skip some secondary ingredients, but without coconut rum or some melon liqueur there are no Scooby snacks shots.

Just a little tidbit!

Those of you who are lactose intolerant should skip the whipped cream in the recipe. The cream is dairy, and all dairy products are full of lactose, so people who cannot digest them should not add any whipped cream at all.

You can go for non-dairy creams, like coconut cream, etc. Dairy-free creams are readily available on the market, and they are great to add a somewhat similar flavor to the shot. In fact, the drink becomes even healthier with dairy-free cream.

It is also a great option for people trying to cut down their caloric intake.

Instead of replacing the whipped cream topping you can simply not add it at all. The recipe will also become quicker and the simpler that way. Whipping cream and topping the drinks is a messy task, so it might be a blessing in disguise if you just skip it completely. There are other things that can be used as a garnish, like pineapple slices, or coating the glass rim with coconut shreds.

If you’re making a Scooby shot yourself, then make sure it’s sufficiently chilled. Remember that it is not a room temperature drink. This drink is not fit for winter, rather it is perfect for tropical regions and the climate of such places. It is a summer drink and works out perfectly in the shade.

But if you are just looking for something different on a snowy night, then this can be a good choice too. Scooby snack mixed drinks are quite popular for every season. Mix it with a bottle of fruity schnapps or flavored liqueur.

If you ask for a Scooby Snack shot at a bar, they will probably make it, but they might not know how. Whipped cream is not always added to the drinks in some places. So, make sure to specify the ingredients if someone out there is a bit confused about the drink.

Not every bar or establishment knows this drink by the same name.

It is often available under different names. So, consider the ingredients first and then make your order. The same is true for the ingredients used in the drink. Not all liquor stores sell melon liqueur or the rest of the liquors with the recommended name and brand. in that case, just read the labels and match them to the characteristics discussed above.

A Scooby Snack drink is booze full of tropical fruity fun, from its color to its sweetness. Make it at home or outdoors to set the right mood for breezy fun and make your evening a mini-vacation.

Enough with the talk, let’s get to the recipe! I have already discussed much the combination and the different ingredients used in the drink, but without knowing the proper proportion of ingredients, it will not turn out ideal.

Snow Capped Scooby Snack Shot Recipe

Scooby shots are a basic mix of liquor. Once you get your hands on the ingredients and the varieties of liquor it requires, it will only be a matter of seconds before you have a full pitcher of the drink. Allow it to chill well, then top it with whipped cream and serve immediately.

Suitable fresh fruits are great for garnish, including pineapple slices. Thread a toothpick with cubed fruit, including pineapple, kiwi, cherries, or mangoes and place the sticks on top to serve along with each glass. But the basic drink is just fine to have lots of fun too.

Here are all the Scooby snack shoot ingredients.

  • 1⁄2-ounce Malibu coconut rum
  • 1⁄2-ounce creme de banana
  • 1⁄2-ounce Midori melon liqueur
  • 1⁄2-ounce pineapple juice
  • 1 1⁄2 ounces whipped cream

Take a bowl or a stainless-steel shaker and start making the drink. A shaker is probably a good choice when it comes to making this drink. I keep a liquor shaker at home now. It is of great help when you need to make drinks often for home parties.

First, add rum to the container and then pour in pineapple juice, melon liqueur, and crème de banana. I almost forget something…ice! Add every ingredient after adding ice to the shake.

We are now left with the whipped cream. Well, there are two ways to serve it. Either shake all the liquids together and then serve the drink with whipped cream on top. Or you can add the cream before shaking.

I like the first idea better, as it gives a dreamy and creamy garnish to every tray of Scooby shots. But the taste remains the same. Now you can enjoy your little energy boosters!

Make sure to chill well before serving.

This half ounce recipe is perfect for a single serving or for as many as four servings. That depends on the amount consuming the drink. Usually, a small shot glass is enough for a single session. A single serving can provide 203 calories.

Now you know why it is called a snack shot. There are as many calories as any other snack that you might routinely have. If you are using the whipped cream in the recipe than the amount of fat will amount to 18% of the total nutrients, whereas the cholesterol accounts for 14 percent. Carbohydrates are only five percent. The sweetness of the drink comes from the 13 grams of sugar it has.

Spread the charm of this amazing drink with everyone. Scooby snack shots are an easy way to revitalize yourself while partying hard or celebrating to the fullest.  In this article we came across a number of ingredients that are rich in taste and nutrients. My personal favorite is obviously melon liqueur, and you should also love the feel of it, as it takes you to a whole new level of freshness.

I specifically shared this recipe because its so delicious and is completely effortless. Minutes of investment will give you an invigorating and refreshing drink. It is great for serving big families or any other group of people.
