(UPDATED May 2018) – There are entirely too many kids growing up these days who think that chicken noodle soup was invented by Campbell’s. I have even heard of restaurants that serve premade chicken noodle soup out of a bag or a can.

This makes a little part of me die inside. So, to make myself feel better about this sorry state of affairs, we are going to explore this mainstay, the right way.

Remember your childhood? Wasn’t lemonade a fond part of a hot summer day? Now, remember your early adulthood, wasn’t vodka and lemonade a delightful blur on a hot summer’s day? We have lost the art of REAL, homemade lemonade. Powder mixes, premade bottled, both with ingredients you can’t pronounce, much less identify, have replaced the real deal. The sad part is that it’s only about ten minutes of work to make the delicious, thirst quenching, summertime staple.

Burgers, burgers, burgers. There are so many takes on the humble little hamburger. From the boring, pre-made, scary-pink freezer patty (that can still be delicious if cooked well), to the gem of the hamburger world, Kobe beef.

We all have to admit that at one time or another even a fast food burger has hit the spot, and we all have fond memories of the summertime barbeque burgers. To me they are all great and each have a time and place. Let me tell you about one of my favorite burgers of all time, the real mushroom onion burger.
